Elsie Mares is the Selections & Global Community Engagement Officer for the McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill.
Originally from California, United States, Elsie previously worked in Washington, DC, as a Policy and Programs Associate with Peace Direct, an international peacebuilding organization. In this role, she advanced local peace-building partners’ advocacy priorities, developed partnerships and programs across conflict-affected countries, and support research and policymaking.
Elsie is an alum of the Herbert Scoville Peace Fellowship and a member of Foreign Policy for America’s NextGen Initiative and Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security. Previously, she interned with EMILY’s List, the UK Parliament, and worked with the United Farmworkers Foundation.
Elsie Mares recently completed a Master of Public Policy at McGill’s Max Bell School where she served as the Public Policy Association of Graduate Students (PPAGS) President. She is thrilled to join the team that made her graduate studies possible.
