McCall MacBain Scholars will have a track record of community engagement, informed by a sense of duty, empathy, intellectual curiosity, grit, and a willingness to take risks. They aim to create meaningful and lasting change, while improving the lives of others.

See if you meet the requirements

To be eligible to apply in 2020/21, you must have:

  • Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status in Canada
  • A bachelor’s degree, or be on track to graduate before August 2021

You will also need to be admitted to an eligible master’s or professional program at McGill University. The program application is separate from your scholarship application.

How to apply

The McCall MacBain Scholarship applications open from June to September 2020, with an expected program start in the fall of 2021.

Applications Open

You will need to submit a comprehensive online application, including two reference letters.

If you are currently attending a Canadian university, you must take part in your university’s endorsement process. More information on this process will be shared in the upcoming months.

A direct application process will be available for alumni and for Canadian students studying abroad.

Regional Interviews

After applications are submitted and assessed, you may be invited to participate in selection interviews. Your interviewers will be Canadian leaders who reflect a wide range of disciplines and life experiences. The interview process is an opportunity for you to tell us about your background, experiences, aspirations, and academic interests.


Final Interviews


First Class

The first cohort of McCall MacBain Scholars will arrive on campus in September 2021.
