Erik majored in Chemical Engineering at the University of Calgary. He grew up in the small town of Minnedosa, Manitoba.
Erik was president of the Energy and Environmental Engineering Students’ Association, providing students with education and resources to work at the intersection of energy and environment. An avid runner, he also led Running is Our Therapy, organizing weekly group runs and training plans to promote accessible student athletics at his university. In addition, Erik served as the Regional Youth Ambassador with the Huntington Disease Youth Organization, has raised funds and awareness for Huntington’s Disease initiatives through running ultra-marathons, and was president of the Chemical and Oil & Gas Engineering Students’ Society, representing and supporting 400 students. He has worked as a data analyst and completed a 16-month internship developing low-carbon technologies at ATCO Gas & Pipelines.
Erik has been admitted to the Master of Science in Bioresource Engineering (Thesis) program at McGill. His long-term goal is to help countries develop sustainable energy, water, and food systems.
