Mark graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Baños with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship. He grew up in a farming community in Borongan, Eastern Samar.
Mark is the co-founder and CEO of GamifiED, a social enterprise raising awareness of agricultural careers through board games. He also co-founded Rise Rural Philippines, an initiative that developed and distributed solar-powered backpacks for rural health workers struggling with limited electricity in two provinces. During his studies, Mark served as secretary-general of a youth advocacy group and organized a science research symposium. He spent a semester at Kent State University through the Fulbright Global Undergraduate Exchange Program. After graduating, he worked at the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources as an enterprise development specialist, supporting sustainable forest-based enterprises.
Mark is pursuing a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics (Thesis) degree at McGill. His long-term goal is to help farmers and rural communities through research and entrepreneurship.
