Shalom graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey with a bachelor's degree in mechatronics engineering. She delivers free aerospace workshops and astronomy courses for children, and previously served as leader of the student astrononomy society. A beneficiary of the university's "Líderes del Mañana" scholarship program, Shalom organized a fundraising initiative which evolved into a formal scholarship from students to other students. In addition, she collaborated with one of her high school teachers to introduce girls from vulnerable backgrounds to fields in science. Since 2016, she has been assisting her father with his gardening business and other entrepreneurial activities. Shalom plans to pursue a master's degree in aerospace engineering at McGill.
