Named one of CBC Music’s 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30 in 2022, Simon studied clarinet performance and French literature at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver.

Simon served as section leader for several UBC band and orchestra performances and held two part-time jobs on campus. While studying remotely from Winnipeg at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he volunteered to deliver meals to senior citizens and people in vulnerable situations. He also coordinated weekly clarinet studio classes at UBC and volunteered at the Greek pavilion of the Folklorama festival in Winnipeg.

Simon is pursuing a master’s degree at McGill’s Schulich School of Music. He is interested in performing and researching Canadian music, and he has showcased some of these works at the Banff Centre for the Performing Arts and the Music in Pyeongchang Festival in South Korea.
