Thirty Students Earn Canada’s Largest Leadership-Based Scholarships for Master’s Studies

Aspiring leaders in AI, bioengineering, cosmology, rehabilitation, robotics, and urban planning are among the newly selected McCall MacBain Scholars at McGill

Nineteen Canadians and 11 international students will receive Canada’s largest leadership-based scholarship for master’s and professional studies, forming the sixth cohort of McCall MacBain Scholars at McGill. Established with a historic $200-million gift in 2019, the scholarship covers tuition and fees, living expenses, mentorship, coaching, and a leadership program.

Applicants this year came from more than 2,300 universities worldwide. Of those, 280 advanced to first-round interviews held in October and November 2025. Then, 91 finalists were invited to attend interviews in Montreal in March.

The international students hail from 11 different countries, including first-time representation from Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, and Peru. The Canadian students come from 17 cities and towns in eight provinces. See the full list of scholars here.
